Solo Exhibition by Faizal Suhif-Menyirami Tanaman Di atas Kertas
The Fruits of Our Labour
by Marisa Ridzuan Ng

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest.
Coming from a family of farmers in a quaint little village has been the inspiration behind the drawings of Faizal Suhif. A promising artist who actively participates in group exhibitions and has earned numerous awards is a testament of his seriousness in labouring for his artistic career.

The debut of his 1st ever solo exhibition introduces a series of drawings as part of the process, in the manifestation of his print works which he hopes to showcase in his next solo exhibition.
Terus Subur and Diam diam... are his latest works of drawing that embodies his philosophy in life. Rooted from his unforgetable experience in farming with his family and his love for nature, he intends to exhaust a particular subject close to his heart.

The emphasis on nature’s crops and echoes of the self reflecting human that integrates into the motherland is masterly composed to portray the same seen with different perspectives.
That is why his drawing flows; everything seems to be flowing; everything is in relation to something else. We either grow or disintegrate; every living thing in existence is in transition.

The visual display in sombre shades of blue and black nudges the observers to question or reflect on the meaning of their existence. Perhaps, just like the crops of nature, wholesome and packed with goodness; to benefit man kind brings more meaning to life.

The dying trees and the untended land cleverly spaced in the drawing carries profound messages. There is a season to sow and a season to reap; to do both simultaniously is to defy the laws of nature.

The subject matter itself personifies the artist’s nurturing character. An artist with an affinity for nature and living by his philosophy, he nurtures his environment with love, patience and dedication. In return he gains inspirations from his surroundings that fuels his artistic endevours.

Such strong influence is evident in his other works produced during his residency in Galeri Shah Alam. Working in the lush suroundings of trees and gorgeous lakes has also inspired the following works of art:
Sepi Kolam
Rezeki Bawa Pulang
Menghibur Diri
Mengharap Subur
Kehidupan Meru
Dalam Diam....

Faizal Suhif is indeed nurturing his artistic talent to the next level as seen in his current works; A labour of love, patience and dedication towards his artistic pursuits as the saying goes what we so is what we reap. He hopes his art works will bring goodness and be of value to mankind in any imaginable possibility.
